By using Edit Genius, you agree to comply with and be bound by the following terms and conditions of use for clients, which, together with our Privacy Policy, govern Edit Genius’s relationship with you in relation to this website.

Definitions

• Client or clients or you: Refers to users of our editorial services.
• Copy-editor or proofreader or editor or editors: Refers to our partners offering editorial services through our website.
• Content or document or text or job: Refers to any written material you send to Edit Genius for editing.
• Work: Refers to the text edited by a copy-editor.
• Copy-editing or proofreading or editing: Refers to the work done by editors.

Edit Genius may change these terms by updating this page. You should check this page from time to time to ensure that you are happy with any changes. These terms are effective from January 1, 2024.

Terms of Use

Services

• Service Description Edit Genius provides real-time professional copy-editing and proofreading services. When sending content to Edit Genius, you receive an instant price quote, which includes checking and correcting grammar, spelling, punctuation, consistency, and textual structure. All quotes are non-binding.
• Guidelines Copy-editors follow standardized guidelines for editing.

Payment

• Payment Process Payments for orders are transferred to a dedicated holding account and do not accrue interest. All payments are made in USD, EUR, or GBP, exclusive of customs duties and other taxes apart from applicable US taxes. You have three business days to evaluate, accept, or request a re-edit of the work. Payments are credited to Edit Genius only after you accept the job.

Credits

• Usage of Credits Credits can be used for multiple jobs and do not expire as long as you sign in to your account at least once a year. Unused credits can be refunded minus a 20% handling fee. No refunds are offered if you haven’t used Edit Genius’s services after purchasing credits.

Copy-editing

• Scope of Copy-editing Copy-editing includes grammar, spelling, punctuation, consistency, and textual structure checks. It does not include development, rewriting, ghost-writing, or critique/evaluation of the text.

Delivery and Deadlines

• Delivery Expectations Delivery dates and times are approximate and based on previous orders of similar size. Edit Genius is not liable for any loss or damage due to late delivery.

Copy-editor’s Right to Refuse

• Refusal of Jobs Copy-editors can refuse a job if it doesn’t meet the standard necessary to complete it. You will be notified via email, and your payment will be reimbursed if the job is refused.

Client’s Right to Refuse

• Evaluation Period After receiving the edited work, you have three business days to evaluate, accept, or request a re-edit. If you do not accept the work, you must provide explicit reasons.
• Re-editing Process If a re-edit is claimed, it will be done at no extra cost. If you do not accept the re-edited content and your claim is legitimate, your payment will be reimbursed.

Confidentiality

• Client Confidentiality Edit Genius ensures client confidentiality through non-disclosure agreements with all copy-editors. However, for extremely sensitive material, you should consider the potential risk of leaking.

Liability

• Limitation of Liability Edit Genius is not liable for any loss or damage arising from the use of this website. The website’s availability may be affected by technical issues beyond our control. Clients are responsible for safeguarding their original material and ensuring no obscene, racist, or plagiarized content.

Re-edits and Money-back Guarantee

• Re-edit Policy Edit Genius offers up to three free re-edits for each job. If still unsatisfied, you may request a refund based on a head editor’s review. Refunds are processed within 72 hours.
